"As soon as we're born, we receive a number of vaccines that help protect us from the threat of easily transmissible diseases. As I grew older and learned how vaccines have developed over time, I did grow increasingly hesitant of what exactly was going into my body. Can I trust the developers of these vaccines? What if I have an allergic reaction? Will these vaccines actually protect me? Sure, my doctors could only give me so much information, but as I began doing my own research, I found there was really nothing to worry about. These days, it can be hard to trust professionals and political figures, but when it comes to protecting myself or the people around me, I make sure to be fully informed before making any decisions. One of the biggest myths that my parents used to believe is that certain vaccines can lead to the development of autism. As an impressionable child, I wanted to believe what my parents followed. However, going to college and studying to become a nurse, I actually discovered how many times this has been disproven! Scientists around the world have conducted numerous studies demonstrating the false link between vaccines and autism. Going deeper into scientific research, I found that a very small percentage of the population will experience a negative reaction to vaccines. While many people have underlying medical issues which may prevent them from becoming immunized, I do think that it is in everyone's best interest to get vaccines if they are able to. Doing my own research that was supported by medical professionals definitely eased some of my concerns, and I would definitely recommend all of you to do the same."
